I've been using Weed Guard paper mulch on our cut flower farm for 7 seasons now. We changed our weed barrier to Weed Guard after switching to a no-till regenerative farming practice. For no-till, it's really the best option to reduce labor hours and prevent any unnecessary working of the soil. We've used standard and heavy weight, creped, and pre-punched. Pre-punched is a great time saver if you can work within the available spacings. Otherwise, old-fashioned marking and cross slashing with a box knife works. We're looking into using a roller with dibbers this season, we'll see how that goes. All in all, whether hand laying or using a machine it's a great product.
